There are three main factors that contribute to the development of one resort. These are ski runs, terrains and weather conditions, Petar Popangelov, one of the best Bulgarian skiers, told FOCUS News Agency in an interview.
He says the climate is the basic factor for the development of a resort. However, the facilities for the production of artificial snow have been increasingly used, which could largely make up for the bad weather conditions. The categories of the ski runs could have a special meaning for the development of winter resorts, too. The ski runs of Borovets are 50-60% black runs, which means they have been designed for professionals, which is not an accident, he says. This means Borovets has been developed as a sport centre , not as a tourist one, he explained. |
